Days Out: Hauser & Wirth, Somerset
Tucked away on a farm just outside Bruton, Somerset is a wonderful garden and exhibition space called Hauser & Wirth. At present, there is a Henry Moore: Sharing Form exhibition on, both outside in the garden and in the internal exhibition space too.
Despite the near drought conditions that we have experienced in the UK this summer, the garden, designed by Piet Oudolf is looking stunning. The planting is very naturalistic, almost prairie style, and maybe this goes some way to explain why it hasn't suffered so much in the heat.
The pavilion, which wasn't being used at the time of my visit was designed by Smiljan Radić and had previously been at the Serpentine.
There is a restaurant (Roth Bar & Grill) on site as well as a farm shop with such beautiful looking food, including some lovely fresh ciabatta sandwiches - definitely one for another time.
It was a splendid place to spend a couple of hours on my own, and has definitely given me some ideas for my own garden.
