Sewn: Fibremood London Top

Earlier this year I bought some really lovely Sevenberry fabric from Draper's Daughter, but because it is more than I would usually spend on fabric, I have felt reluctant to cut into it. Daft, I know! But with an impending trip away and a need for a top that will cope with the transition in seasons, I decided to make up the Fibremood London Top (from magazine 29, published 2024).

The fabric is indigo dyed and I took a while to decide which side I preferred. I opted for what I think is the "wrong" side, because I prefer the predominance of the blue.

It's an oversized boxy top with a tie fastening at the back. It's such a simple sew but the instructions have you adding French seams, which adds a really polished feel to it. I might even go so far to say that it is one of my most flawless sews! Even with the French seams, it probably only took a couple of hours to make.

I'm sure the instructions aren't quite right around the back of the neck binding, unless I misread them, and I ended up having to unpick some of my bias binding to attach the ties.

To be honest, there isn't much more to say about it, except that it is a versatile top, looks good as it is or tucked in. I have seen some sheer versions which also look amazing.
