Museum of the Moon
Our trip to the moon (to be precise, Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon) was postponed due to Storms Dudley and Eunice rendering it too dangerous to travel. However, we did manage to make the trip down to Exeter Cathedral today for its final day.
Despite pre-booking, there was a long queue to get in, but luckily it went pretty quickly and it certainly didn’t feel very crowded inside. Luckily, it was a beautiful day too.
The moon is suspended from the ceiling, and is a whopping seven metres across. It looks so impressive as you enter.
Whilst we were there, we took some time to explore the rest of the cathedral, which I hadn't visited in many years. This is the tomb of Lady Dorothy Dodderidge who has a skull as a memento mori. It looks so macabre.
Each venue that holds this art installation can choose what lighting, events and music to accompany it. Exeter Cathedral held a silent disco, and other venues have held synchronised swimming or dances.
There are several Museum of the Moon installations travelling around the world at the same time, and in my opinion, it is definitely worth a visit.
