Recovering...

I am sure some of you have been wondering where I have been lately. I fell severely ill a couple of weeks ago and have been in intensive care, and am working my way through to recovery. Thankfully my husband took swift action and called an ambulance, which I owe my life to. I am recovering at home now.

So, I am taking some R&R but it may be nearer Easter before I update my blog again. Luckily, my husband has been recording sewing bee for me, so I have some catching up to do.

Le Challenge: Order - a selvedge pincushion

I can't believe it is Le Challenge time again. This month's challenge was Order. I have serious time issues this month as I have an teacher training interview this week and am spending a lot of time on work towards it, as well as doing maths test practice (if I get accepted, I have 30 days to pass 2 skills tests)! Also this month, I have committed myself to the Mad Men Dress Challenge over at Julia Bobbin, so there really is a squeeze on.

Last month, for Valentines day, I made a card with a little bit of selvedge that had hearts on it, and I really like the idea of using the selvedge. Pinterest has great inspiration. I decided on a bobbin pincushion. All the pieces of selvedge I have used are in order, numbers, hearts or elephants!

My image is a little overexposed so you can't see the shape of the bobbin. I am always losing pins, so now I can keep them in this pincushion.

Come and join in with the next Le Challenge - a new theme is set on the 15th of every month. Click on the link to the right hand side to see all the entrants this month.

February 2014 Recap

I always think that I haven't made much, and most of what I have made this month are small things.

Clockwise from top right:

The Apple Pie Ottoman (or as we would call it a poufee) made from Tanya Whelan's Sew What you Love. I was really pleased at how this turned out, particularly as I was using scraps. It took a lot of stuffing but it was well worth it.

My Coconut and Raspberry cake was a bit of an experiment and is just a twist on a Victoria Sponge.

I had a glassblowing evening at Shakspeare Glass in Langport, Somerset which was a brilliant experience. That I produced something was a complete bonus - I love my mis-shapen dish!

My husband bought me a new bag from a trip to Italy, but as there was nowhere to store cosmetics, I made myself a little make up bag.

The Cherry Blossom clutch was my Le Challenge make this month.

Finally, a Valentines Card made with selvedge.
