Peg Fairy Kits

I have been busy making some Peg Fairy kits to sell at the school Christmas Fair. I think it has only just dawned on me that it is only three months until the Christmas fairs that I am booked for, start. I have some stock already, but really need to spend September making like crazy!

I have no idea how much to sell these at - they are just fairies with a kit of  paper clothes and little wings and other little accessories, and I want children to be able to buy them.

Folksy Friday: A Glut of Plums

When I was a child, we had a Victoria Plum tree in our garden which bore so many fruit, that we sold them by the bagful at the bottom of the garden. Here are some luscious Folksy plums!

Earring Cards Part 2!

If you are a long standing reader of this blog, you will know that I created some earring cards previously (26/02/11) which were roughly business card sized with punched holes and a little hand drawn decoration. What I didn't think about was that they aren't going to stand up on their own accord, and also the punched holes are far too big for delicate earrings!

So, when I was browsing through my local craft shop, I found something which I hoped would be an improvement. It was a pack of mini cards (3 inch square) from Papermania, which would obviously stand up on their own accord, even with quite heavy earrings. I jazzed them up with some some rubber stamps, and I used a pin to make the holes, so the earrings won't come off easily.

So, what do you think? I know I still need to put my shop name and the price on them.

I have used a different stamp for each shop, so the heart motif are for earrings from Emma Williams Bridal Jewellery and the flowers are from Mrs Jones Handmade Jewellery (I wish I had chosen shorter shop names!). I will probably change the colour of the former, so they are completely different.

I would love to hear about ways you display your earrings, especially at craft fairs or parties.

Yellow Felt Corsage

I have spent the last hour making this corsage out of felt. It was based on the 3D Flower tutorial written by Sian Hamilton in the September issue of Making Magazine. She attached her flowers to a cushion cover. I used a piece of yellow felt because I hoped it would look a little summery.

In brief you need to cut a circle of felt, cut into as many equal petals as you want, shape the outside edge, then sew at the base of each petal to look 3D. I used household objects for my circle templates and cut my petals by eye, In fact the smaller flower has five petals and the larger six. I sewed a button into the centre, through both flowers. Finally I attached a brooch back to it.

I think a red poppy would look good too, especially if black seed beads were sewn around the centre. Here are some ideas for this corsage:

Six Month Anniversary on Folksy

I can't believe that I have been listing on Folksy for six months now. It has definitely been good for my business and I have sometimes spent far too long on the forums. I thought I would flag up the fact that my listings only last for six months, and these two bracelets will be delisted in the next month.
This is a Jasper coin and tiny star bracelet, reduced from £6.50 to £5.00.
This Yellow & Black bracelet is priced at £8.00, and will not be reduced. You can click on the links to take you directly to my shop.

Silvery Blue Bracelet

I have made something a bit different from my usual style of jewellery in this silvery-blue bracelet/cuff with two rows of beads with abstract streaks, some bugle beads and these lovely silvertone flowers. So this is my Day  4 listing on Folksy. I'm not sure why, but yesterday's listing had loads of views, so I am always encouraged by that. Come back tomorrow for my Folksy Friday!

Back to Daily Listing

I feel that two weeks without my stash of beads and pliers was too much and have been glad to get stuck in making jewellery, especially as this is my new day off for my new working hours! So, even though I said I wouldn't, I have joined the Folksy Daily Listing Club again. I think both my shops need new items, so you should see them there soon.

This is what I have listed today:
Other news, I have ordered some lovely beads from a US shop on Etsy. Not sure how long they will take to arrive, but I'm already excited!
